Wordle and the Convention Speeches
Sep 6th, 2008 by Kevin Purcell
What is “wordle”? It is a way of analyzing speeches, articles, or anything made up of words. Some are using it to analyze the scriptures. It takes the words of a work and arranges them visually to show what words were used the most. They are actually nice to look at. Someone took the words of the convention speeches by the various politicians. And they are interesting to look at.
Barack Obama’s Speech
Having heard his speech this seems about right. He talked a lot about America and made a lot of promises and talked about promise. He also slammed John McCain quite a bit.
Sarah Palin’s Speech
Now the media complained that she was so negative. yet you barely see mention of the man. I know she just didn’t use his name. But even the words she did use to reference him are not as prominent as McCain, America, country, and man.
John McCain’s Speech
As you can see he talked more about America and the country than anything else. and he doesn’t mention Obama much at all. Nor did he really spend much time slamming him either. Instead his was the most specific of all the main candidates.
