Astonishing Words

I am astonished. A politician said we should pray that our actions are in fact God’s will. This politician said that we should seek God and try to discover his will regarding a decision to go to war. Can you believe a politician would make such a disturbing claim? Can you imagine the audacity that such a person would commingle their faith into politics and American wartime policy? It is disturbing that such religion run amok can go unchecked in America. And everyone should immediately go to their local High School and tear out the pages of history books that mention President Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy and Reagan for their narrow minded, Christian-right insanity.
Oh, did you think I was referring to someone else? You may have thought I was talking about Gov. Sarah Palin, who asked a church in Alaska to pray such a thing. She implored the church to pray that our policy in Iraq, which would be sending her very own son to war, was something that was part of God’s greater plan for the Universe and that somehow we were on His side in this whole thing. I know it is scandalous isn’t it!
In fact, if we are not praying this prayer we are in grave danger of no longer being “one nation under God” nor can we claim, “in God we trust.” The sad thing is that the liberal elites in our nation want just that; they long for a day when religion is relegated to nothing more than slogans and holiday backdrop. And some Christians mindlessly choose to support these anti-Christs because they believe it will help them hang on to their jobs and dollars. That is debatable but this is not. If the liberal elites have their way we will not have ours, not will God.
My how far we have fallen. Believers must truly humble themselves and pray and seek God’s face and turn from our wicked ways or we are in dire straights. God if there be but 5 faithful people in that city, will you still destroy it?
In reality, I would like to ask them what they are so afraid of. If they are right and God is not, then we are no threat to them. We might be a little cookie, but all our praying and spiritual posturing will have no impact. So long as we do not call for another Inquisition or a Crusade to the Holy Land, then our faith will be emasculated. It will not be a threat whatsoever and will in fact reveal us to be the lunatics they think we are. They should hope we will display it publicly and often if it is so ridiculous. Could it be that they are afraid of it because deep down, in the recesses of their minds, they know God is and shudder?
