Are You Ready for Some Football?
Sep 9th, 2006 by Kevin Purcell
While I spend most of my time discussing preaching and the ministry, one of my side passions is football. Growing up in Wisconsin makes me a passionate Green Bay Packers fan. I’ve had a few people ask me, “What are the Packers gonna do?” Well, I don’t know. This season is a mystery. The biggest question is the offensive line. If they stay healthy and start to play well together, then the Packers can go far with a division title and maybe a playoff victory. I doubt they are a Super Bowl team. (Bengals v. Panthers; write it down) But if the O-Line stinks, so will the team. Second questions is health of the skill positions, like the Wide Recievers and the Running Backs. If Greg Jennings, their rookie WR is as good in games as he has been in practice and preseason, then it could be a good year. If not, then not. If Ahman Green bounces back and the backups, Noah Herron and Samkon Gado can add something, then the running game might have a chance. Of course this depends a great deal on the O-Line too. I think the Defense is good, if not great and the Special Teams are slightly improved over last year, which is not saying much.
My prediction. If all the good above takes place … 10-6 with a tie breaking edge over Chicago due to better division record. If any of the above do not take palce, then 8-8 is the top with 6-10 being more likely.
And now back to regularly scheduled programming…
