Here is the first sermon in a series I am going to be doing on Sundays in my church.  As you can see from the title of this post, the sermon is an introduction to the book and talks about who we are as a church and as believers, based on what Paul says at the outset.  In this I intro the series and explain the idea of how NT letters worked.

My whole point is this: How can we be united around the gospel?  The answer is that we must realize how Christ as called us, how he cleansed us, and how he brings us together or combines us.  All of that brings us together around Jesus.

My Latest Message – Mother’s Day

Here is my latest message on Psalm 127, “Unless the Lord Builds It” about the necessity of God to build our homes, communities, churches, etc.

Bibleworks Training Workshop

I just got back the Bibleworks Training Workshop held at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.  I found it very interesting and helpful.  I just recently upgraded to Bibleworks 7.0 and it has some really great features including the External Link Manager, the Graphical Search Engine and the Bibleworks maps.  If you have never had a chance to attend one of these, then you should.  You can go to the Bibleworks site to sign up for them.  I highly recommend going.  I now have a much greater appreciation for all that you can do with Bibleworks.
One of the most useful thing I’ve learned was that you can go to the passage you are studying.  Find a word you want to search to see how else that author has used it.  So you put your mouse cursor over the word in the KJV or NASB.  In the window either to the right or below (depending on your version and your layout) you will see the Strong’s entry.  Double click the Greek word and you can find all the times that Greek word is being used in the bible.  You can also narrow it to just that book or a range of books.  If you want to see how Paul uses the word for knowledge you can easily do it without knowing that much Greek.
I also love the fact that they realize they don’t have as many databases of commentaries and such.  So you can link from within BW to other programs that can handle external links, like Logos or e-Sword.  This is very helpful.
