Correction: In this month’s Christian Computing Magazine Article I provided an overview of PocketBible for Windows, the first effort at a desktop Bible Study package from Laridian. I have to apologize for two errors that require a correction and a clarification. First, I stated that they made a glaring omission; they did not include a way to input text references directly as nearly all other programs do. I was wrong. While I was partly right in saying there is not a box to directly enter a reference, there is a method to directly enter references. You simply open the program and type John 3:16 or any other reference. If you have the Bible window highlighted it will jump there directly. When I first opened it, as I was writing this, I did not have the Bible window highlighted; the commentary window was highlighte and only that window jumped despite having the “Sync” button activated on the toolbar. So I clicked in the Bible window, typed the reference and I was there. This is actually a very new and interesting concept. I missed it and I am very sorry.
The other correction I need to make is that I stated there is no content creation system in the program. That is both true and false. If you purchase PocketBible for Windows you will not have this capability directly. This is something that is present in a couple of other popular packages. However, Laridian does offer an add-on that allows you to create books. You cannot make a translation of the Scripture, but you could create other content with it. I have not used it but I was wrong in saying it is not possible. It is possible. The basic version for non-profit use is $29.99 and a professional version is $99.99. While I would prefer this to be included in all Bible Study software only a couple of programs offer this natively. So Laridian should be given consideration since they offer the add-on. I implied they did not in my overview and that is wrong. I knew that it was available as an add-on and should have said so before. Also Laridian is not the only company to charge for this capability; others do as well. Finally, if you do not want to pay an extra fee, you can create notes within the program.
I am happy to make corrections or clarifications if I misstate something. Thanks to the people at Laridian for helping us get it right.

Day at the River
This video was shot during our recent trip to the mountains. We stopped along the Blue Ridge Parkway and enjoyed some time by the river. There were many other’s there when we arrived doing the same.

Waterfall Krohn Conservatory

My son Michael took this one on his trip with mom, brother and grandma to Cincinnati. It is a waterfall at the Krohn Conservatory. I was amazed at how nice a picture he could get with Grandma’s old Sony 2 MP camera.
