Does Your Church Meet in a School

Not for long.  At least that is a real possibility thanks to the “Economic Stimulus” bill passed by Congress last week and applauded wildly by the majority of the Democrats in Congress as President Barak Obama touted it’s many spending initiatives.

The problem is with a section that denies the use of funds to any institution

that allows its buildings to be used for religious purposes.  The exact wording can be read here.  The article cited mentions that it is possible that an institution that has religious activity going on in it could be denied the use of these funds.  So if a local school is being rented by a church so that it can meet there to worship on Sunday the government might deny the use of funds to help with building upgrades.  When the building would otherwise be vacant and only costing the school district money is instead of providing much needed income with the rent from the church, Obama and the Democrats want to make sure that cannot happen.  So they slipped this vague provision in to stop religious activity.  You may think I am being ridiculous.  You may wonder why would they do this?  I will not try to put words in their mouths or read their minds.  But they had a chance to take it out at the request of religious groups who caught it before it was passed and they refused.

Google’s Funny Suggestions

I use Google as my brain.  It remembers so much better than I do.  It also suggests things I should be looking for on the Internet.  When you go to the Google page and search it drops down a box and suggests what you might be searching for.  Sometimes to a humorous end.  For example, I typed “You should not” and it suggested that I might be interested in the following …

My favorite is the third one: “You should not eat talking trees. nope nope nope”

What can you find?  Post a screens hot and send me a link.

UPDATE: Apparently it is a line from the movie The Land Before Time said by the character Ducky.

Only problem for me was the marshmallows.  Not sure they were worth parting with just for a portable Blue Ray Player.

My latest Christian Computing Magazine article is a review of Bibleworks 8.  You can read it downloading the PDF directly or by subscribing to CCMag.  Give it a look and then tell me what you think by going to my forums at www.Christ-Tech.com.

This is a sermon based on James 2:10-13.  The message says that we will all be judged according to the scriptures.  But specifically we will be judged based on how well we have given other the same mercy we have received.

SERMON: The Lukewarm Church – Laodicea

This is the 7th in a series on the 7 churches of Revelation 2-3. It is about the church at Laodicea which was called the Lukewarm church since they had lost their passion and usefulness to the kingdom of God.

This was funny.  It was a guy who had a friend who never watched the original Star Wars Trilogy but claimed she knew what happened.  So he recorded her version of the plotline and then put it to some pretty funny animation.

My favorite part was where “Hans” gets free from the “stuff.”

Pastors, Do You LOVE Your Church?

I sure do and they make me love them all the more when they encourage me, support me, and help me through my own struggles sometimes.  But according to a recent article at the Christianity Today blog, many pastors seem to be very frustrated and don’t always show love as they talk about their church behind their church’s back.

We need to not only love them in word but in our actions and speech.  Love is tender and kind, not boisterous and brash.

This is a fake Google Earth view of the Exodus even where the people of Israel escaped on dry land through the Red Sea.  Others included at the web site where I found these include the Crucifixion and Noah’s Ark landing.
