I love to take pictures. Of all the shotes I’ve taken over two decades of playing around with cameras, here’s the best shot ever.

Sunset on the Bayou

I took the above in Bayou Le Batre, on the Gulf Coast of Alabama near Mobile in June 2012.

The slide show below displays some of my favorite shots that I’ve taken over the years.

Flickr hosts all my shared images. The sets there include the shots I’ve taken of family, friends, my churches and general stuff.

Right now I’m shooting with a Nikon D5100 and occasionally a Nikon 1 J1 camera that I gave my son. Our Nikon P7000 bit the dust after it accidentally took a bath in Axe body spray.

My photos get organized in Aperture and some occasional touch-up work gets done in Photoshop CS6, but not very often. I follow Derrick Story’s 7-Step photo editing workflow, which I learned from an online video tutorial he did for Lynda Learning. These are the steps he suggests:

  1. Crop (and I add straighten)
  2. White Balance
  3. Exposure
  4. Enhance
  5. Highlights & Shadows
  6. Color
  7. Edge Sharpen

Of course I would add share or print to the list! Who cares if I take a great shot if I can’t show it off.
