WORDSearch 9 for the Mac
A while back I sent out a Tweet saying that WORDSearch 9 for Mac was a mess. This was just after I got my MacBook Air and downloaded the software. It was in fact a mess and an embarrassment for the company. Fortunately, they felt the same way and quickly remedied that. I was impressed that they reached out to me and offered access to a far better version. I have downloaded it and been using it for a number of weeks now and thought I’d show it off to you in a demo video. So here is that video.
I just want to say that I’m thankful for the responsiveness of WORDSearch in this matter and look forward to a better program in the future as they fix some of the problems, few as they may be, that exist. Maybe one day we will get a fully Mac OSX version instead of just a Windows version running in virtualization. Until then WORDSearch 9 is a decent start. I look forward to the improvements they make – that is if I can ever et the updates to run.

I just installed the program on my MacBook Pro, but from a couple things I’m wondering if I should have bought the PC version and ran it in the Parallels Desktop–or just not bought it at all. For one thing, I don’t like the font and general look. Has an old feel about it and I can’t find anywhere to adjust the font. Second, I can’t seem to find any info on getting to Zipscript. Beginning to regret the purchase.
If you have Parallels, that is one option. I am only trying Parallels, so not really willing to invest much in it yet. If you decide to do that, give WS a call and see if they will allow you to just get the Windows version instead. The gave me the Mac version but it might just be because of my status a journallist.
Hi Steve,
As you’ve noticed, WORDsearch on the Mac is the same as the latest Windows version. It’s running inside of WINE which works like Parallels, only on a program-by-program basis. There is currently no Zipscript for the Mac however.
If you decide to run Windows on your Mac, you might also take a look at VMware Fusion, a solid competitor to Parallels.
We’ll take care of you either way you decide to run the program.
Thanks!
WORDsearch
I just downloaded the operating system “Mountain Lion” for my Mac. WORDsearch 9 will not open in it. When will you have a patch so I can continue to use this valuable tool?

You will have to contact them. I’m not the developer of the program.
